2018-2019 Toyota presented in Frankfurt its first hybrid compact SUV for the European market.
Earlier, we wrote about the announcement Hybrid is the RAV4 , but at that time the Japanese did not want to reveal all the technical details.
The novelty will receive more strength and increased power reserve, compared to the standard model , thanks to the hybrid propulsion system consisting of a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine and a powerful electric motor, powered from nickel-metal hydride battery, located under the rear seats.
Hybrid versions will be available in front- and all-wheel drive versions of the crossover.
Version with a drive to all four wheels receive an additional 50-kilowatt electric motor on the rear axle, capable of operating without the basic electrical unit (thus, the RAV4 can temporarily become a rear-drive).
Fitting system running the E-Four 4 × 4 which engages each of the motors in accordance with the situation and the type of road surface.
Total power of the motors is 194 hp
Acceleration to “hundreds” – 8.7 seconds.
Average fuel consumption – 4.7 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle.
The hybrid system works in a team with a CVT transmission with Shift-by-Wire technology and electronic gearshift lever.
