2018-2019 Mazda CEO Masamichi Kogay revealed new information about the future of crossover Koeru.
In his interview with Automotive News Kogay said that Koeru will be a “completely new” sports crossover with attributes wagon, ground clearance which will be less than that of the CX-3 , CX-5 and CX-9 .
The main competitor of new items will be commensurate with the Subaru the Outback .
Considering main rival, Koeru sizes are comparable with the CX-5, but the internal competition does not scare the brand management as Koeru will be positioned as an alternative to traditional crossovers.
The executive director has refused to directly confirm the plans for mass production of a new SUV, confining only hints.
Nevertheless, future car prototype already tested on Chinese roads.
It is not excluded that the commercial version of the car will receive engines from the CX-5 – namely, the 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G power of 155 hp and 203 Nm and 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G, which develops 184 hp and 250 Nm of maximum torque.
