French manufacturer 2018-2019 Citroen has demonstrated crossover concept C4 Cactus AIRFLOW 2L with the power plant, operated by compressed air.
Innovative car will debut at the Motor Show in Paris on 2 October.
As the driving force of crossover uses Hybrid Air system with a 3-cylinder petrol PureTech, capacity for storing compressed air and hydraulic pump, and an automatic transmission with planetary gear.
The power plant has three modes – only air, only the internal combustion engine and combined mode.
Claimed fuel consumption – 2 liters per 100 kilometers.
Exterior crossover got a new front bumper with three air intakes, automatically opening to cool the engine and improved aerodynamics, an enlarged rear spoiler, 19-inch wheels and tires with low rolling resistance and a rear-view camera, instead of side mirrors.
With these modifications, the crossover has improved aerodynamics by 20% compared to the serial version .
In addition, the engineers of the French brand used in machine design, lightweight materials (aluminum, composites and high-strength steel), which reduced the weight of the C4 Cactus AIRFLOW 2L per 100 kilograms.
